In 2018, as I embarked on the rollercoaster of college placements, the big names in the corporate world, including Microsoft and Infosys, conducted recruitment drives.

To my delight, I successfully cleared the prelims for most companies, but my aspirations didn’t align with the typical developer roles they were offering. I yearned to be a business analyst, recognizing my strengths lay in communication and people management.

Honesty, however, proved to be a double-edged sword. Open rejections followed in the wake of my candid admissions during the final rounds. Five interviews down, I decided to withhold my preference to secure a job.

Enter ThoughtLine Technologies, a game-changer in my story. Their unconventional interview method required candidates to present themselves to the CEO and CTO.

Crafting a compelling presentation, I managed to secure the job. Yet, my initial excitement was tempered by the realization that I’d be working as a developer. Undeterred, I dedicated my first week to learning the ropes and making an impression.

To my astonishment, in the second week, CEO Suri Amarnath summoned me to his cabin. Expecting feedback, I was instead asked about my thoughts on transitioning into a role as a Junior Business Analyst. Shock and joy intermingled as Suri, seemingly guided by intuition, recognized my potential in a different domain. This unexpected opportunity marked a pivotal moment, redirecting my career trajectory.

Over the past six years at Thoughtline Technology, I’ve not only acquired valuable skills but also found genuine enjoyment in my work.

In essence, my journey serves as a reminder that, even in moments of despair, opportunities can knock unexpectedly. It’s a testament to the unpredictability and serendipity that shape our professional paths.
